Smackover Arkansas Medical Marijuana Doctor

Ozark MMJ Cards provides medical marijuana card renewal services to residents of Smackover, Arkansas. It is found within Union County, northwest of the El Dorado metro area, which is ten miles to the south on Arkansas Route 7. The City of Smackover received its unusual name in the 19th century from French settlers of the area. These settlers referred to the area by the name “Sumac Couvert,” which translates to “covered in sumac bushes.” The English-speaking settlers adopted the name phonetically and eventually, the area became officially known as “Smackover.”

Initially, the oil industry played a major role in the local economy. However, as the oil industry in the southern region of Arkansas declined in the second half of the twentieth century, many jobs and businesses associated with it were lost.  However, Smackover has retained its “oil town” vibe. Main Street is lined with western-style store fronts and a street-mounted antique stop light is located in the town’s center. Smackover’s oil town past is also the focus of the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources. The Museum commemorates the history and culture of the area with an indoor reconstruction of the city’s downtown, an Oil Field Park, and a variety of exhibits depicting the oil industry history of southern Arkansas. Smackover hosts an annual four-day Oil Town Festival every summer, in addition to multiple various community events including outdoor concerts, seasonal festivals, and sports competitions.
